Leaving Jobber? Export first, and count the PDFs.
Jobber did the job for a while. Now you're paying for features you don't use, or missing the ones you need, and you're wondering what comes with you if you leave.
The short answer
Export before you cancel.
- Jobber's client list comes out as a CSV or vCard file, by an admin, on select plans1.
- Reports come out as CSV, but quotes, jobs and invoices download one at a time as PDFs2.
- Closing an account is final2.
- Jobber's terms make backups your job3.
- If the trouble is set-up rather than the app, staying is often the better buy.
Stay, switch apps, or have it run for you
Stay on Jobber if the trouble is set-up nobody had time for.
Fix the set-up first; a move costs weeks too. Jobber is an Edmonton company3.
The detail
Its card payments work in Canada4.
Switch to Housecall Pro if you want calls and payroll in the app.
Housecall Pro says its team moves your customer data, jobs and price book when you switch5.
The detail
It bills in US dollars6.
Look at Rundo if you'd rather pay in Canadian dollars.
It says it's built in Cochrane, Alberta, for shops of 1 to 15 people7. It's $49 to $179 CAD a month7.
The detail
It lists scheduling, two-way texts, estimates, invoices and QuickBooks sync in one app7.
Look at Joist if you work alone and mostly need estimates and invoices.
Its Pro plan is built for solo operators: unlimited estimates and invoices8.
Have it built and run for you if the app was never the problem.
If what's missing is the hours someone spends running it, a different app won't give them back.
What comes out of Jobber, and how
| What | How it comes out |
|---|---|
| Client list | CSV or vCard, up to 1,500 rows a file, by admin users, on select plans1 |
| Reports | CSV, before you close2 |
| Quotes, jobs, invoices | PDF, one at a time2 |
| Client Hub | Unavailable once you close; tell your customers first2 |
| Backups | Keep your own: the terms say you're responsible for backups "at all times"3 |
For comparison, Housecall Pro sends customer and job lists as CSV files by email, and only admins can export them10.
Before you cancel
Export the client list
As an admin, as CSV. A big list arrives as several files1.
Export every report you rely on
As CSV, while you still can2.
Download what's still open
Open quotes, unpaid invoices and active jobs, one PDF at a time2.
Tell customers who use Client Hub
Say how they'll book and pay from now on; the hub goes dark when you close2.
Check what you've paid for
A monthly plan with no commitment ends at the end of the billing period; yearly prepaid isn't refunded11.
Close the account last
Once it's closed, it's final2.
Each one at its best, and who it suits
| App | Its strongest point, by its own account | Suits | Plans a month, and the currency |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jobber, Edmonton3 | Route planning, a Google profile manager and a website builder on every plan12 | Crews on the road who want card payments that work in Canada4 | US$49 to US$199 month to month, one user11 |
| Housecall Pro | A phone system, postcards, custom pricing forms and supplier bill pay in the app; its team moves your customers, jobs and price book5 | Teams that want calls and marketing in the same app as the jobs | US$59 to US$299 billed yearly6 |
| Rundo, Cochrane7 | Scheduling, two-way texts, estimates, invoices, Stripe payments and QuickBooks sync, all in one app7 | Shops of 1 to 15 people7 | $49 to $179 CAD7 |
| Joist, Toronto9 | Estimates and invoices from the jobsite; Pro adds unlimited documents, contracts with e-signatures and QuickBooks8 | Solo contractors; its Run plan adds jobs and visit scheduling for owner-operators juggling several jobs8 | US$10 to US$32; Run US$70, a 30% introductory discount on US$100. The cards show a bare $; the page's own price data says USD8 |
All four advertise a 14-day free trial11,6,7,8. Run a real week through one before you move anything.
A US-dollar bill moves with the exchange rate every month, and your card may add a conversion fee on top. A CAD bill doesn't.
The detail
That alone won't decide it, but it's worth knowing before you sign up for a year.
How long the move takes
Where we fit
The third route is a system built around your week and run for you, in your name, by people who answer for it.
The detail
We don't publish a price, because every system is scoped to the business it runs. If staying on Jobber is the better answer, we'll tell you.
