A Calgary team that builds it, then stays to run it.
You want someone near you who builds the website and the system behind it, and is still around the month after it goes live. Here's who we are, what a website costs here, and what we know about running a service business in this city.
We're a Calgary company
Autograf is a Calgary company. We build the website, booking, quotes and customer app your business runs on.
The detail
Then we run it, grow it and answer for it.
It starts with a free fit call with someone on our team.
The detail
Bring the week that's wearing you out: the evening texts, the quotes waiting on you, the invoices nobody has chased.
What a website costs here, by who builds it
| Who builds it | What it costs |
|---|---|
| A web designer you employ | Median $35.09 an hour in the Calgary Region, from $22.36 to $56.77 (2024)1 |
| A web developer you employ | Median $40.69 an hour in the Calgary Region, from $27.16 to $62.04 (2024)2 |
| A builder you run yourself | Squarespace CA$21 to CA$109 a month, paid yearly3; Shopify $37 to $389 CAD a month, paid yearly, for selling online4 |
| The .ca address, whoever builds it | Typically $10 to $20 a year; watch for a cheap first year5 |
| A firm that builds it for you | $10,000 to $30,000 for the first build for most of BDC's clients, then $20 to $60 a month to host6 |
Example
- A web developer on staff at the Calgary median: 40 hours × 52 weeks × $40.69 = $84,635.20 a year in wages2.
- That's before CPP, EI and WCB.
The detail
Set that beside the builder and the firm above before you decide who builds it.
We don't publish our price, because every system we build is scoped to the business it runs.

Hail in August, Stage 4 in the fall
On 5 August 2024, hail hit the city.
The detail
The Insurance Bureau of Canada now puts insured damage at $3.25 billion, with more than 130,000 claims and nearly 60,000 homes in the Calgary area hit7. When that many homes need glass, siding and roofs at once, the quotes pile up faster than anyone can type them.
Water is the other shock.
The detail
While the Bearspaw South feeder main was repaired, the City went back to Stage 4 from 26 August to the end of September 2024: no City water on yards and plants, no sprinklers, no washing outdoor surfaces or vehicles8.
City-wide Stage 4 starts again on 4 November 2026, for about four weeks, while the new pipe is connected9.
The detail
For a landscaper, every change like that is a week of customers to tell and a route to rebook.
What office help costs here
| Role | Median an hour | Period |
|---|---|---|
| Office manager (administrative officer) | $29.1310 | 2023–24 |
| General labourer, landscaping | $21.0011 | 2023–24 |
| Light duty cleaner | $18.6112 | 2024 |
The first row is the person most owners picture hiring when the evenings fill up with paperwork. That wage is before CPP, EI and vacation pay.
Trades we work with here
- Landscaping and snow: estimate requests on the first warm Saturday.
The detail
And a whole route to rebook when the watering rules change.
- Glass and glazing: photos of a cracked patio door at nine at night.
The detail
And after a hailstorm, a lot of them at once.
- Cleaning: keys, access notes and a checklist for every home, and a day that moves when one client does.
- Property management: the 2 am leak, the plumber, and the owner who hears about it from you first.
